Resolving Range Ambiguities in Underwater Acoustic Tracking System by Software
Range Ambiguities is a main problem in high data rate underwater acoustic tracking/positioning system. Many measures are taken to resolve range ambiguities by means of hardware, which makes the system more complicated. In this article two software approaches are put forward, which have been proved to be valid by lake and sea trials. The first method realizes unambiguous location by majority rule and the other through a known reference location to the target. Theories and operations of both methods are introduced in this article, as well as some trail results are provided in the end.
