Preparing for 3-D CAD/Modeling for Mechanical Design and Drawing Education at the Tsukuba University of Technology
Our institution is in the process of changing from a 3-year program to a 4-year program. During this time, 1st-year students in the 4-year program will become 2nd-year students, and the 3-year program students will graduate year by year as that program is gradually phased out. There will be an annual increase in the courses offered. Many of the same subjects (e.g., Mechanical Design and Drawing, CAD/ CAM) will be offered but they will contain advanced content. Despite this higher-level content, the times of the classes will not change, so it will be necessary to make the content easier to understand so it can be grasped more quickly. Up to now 3-D CAD has not been offered so we are considering how 3-D CAD/ Modeling can be used to prepare effective teaching materials. For these 2 years we have been trying 3-D CAD/ Modeling outside of the classes in order to reflect on our teaching methods. We are attempting to introduce new Mechanical Design Education which fits advanced technology for our hearing-impaired students.
