Introduction of Project-Based Learning for Many Students in Design Education
This study describes a method of project-based learning applicable in a vocational college (Osaka City College of Design). The essence of this method lies in the connection of design and management ability in students. In a team, which consists of several persons, first year students work as the designers and second year students become the managers who utilized experience in the last year. Conclusion: Those ideas which were born from the project were evaluated by the client. Actually, an idea of the student was adopted by the client. Other ideas obtained a utility model right. It is concluded that the project-based learning method can yield a surplus value compared to more traditional types of education. It also makes higher demands on the skill education and on the management of our college.
