Application of Group Technology to Graphics Education

The concept of group technology (GT) is expanded and applied to graphics education to develop students abilities of reading 2D drawing, reconstruct 3D images in mind, as well as 3D modeling. The rules of modeling and the projection of a family are studied according to the principle of grouping the similar parts into a family. Two new methods of reading engineering drawing are put forward. One is analogy analysis and the other is synthesis analysis. It is effective to improve students space imagination and image thinking abilities in practical application.
