Vaporization of phosphorus and heavy metals during sewage sludge combustion

In this paper, the vaporization of phosphorus and heavy metals with and without additives (CaO and HCl) during sewage sludge combustion were compared. In addition, the influence of combustion atmosphere on the behavior of phosphorus and heavy metals was also considered. The experimental results demonstrated that HCl could promote the vaporization of heavy metals and phosphorus during sewage sludge combustion. While Cao additive stabilized heavy metals and phosphorus in the ashes. Meanwhile, heavy metals and phosphorus in the slag increased with the increase of CaO ratio. It was also found that the optimum HCl/sludge and CaO/sludge ratio for recovery phosphorus were 3.0 and 0.2, respectively. Lastly, the difference of the TG-DTA curves with and without additives was discussed.
