Effect of Temperature on Viscoelastic Properties of Polyurethane Fiber

Segmented polyurethane fibers have been reported showing high elastic recovery and shape memory properties, which were studied within recovery deformation. Whereas the stretching broken deformation of PU fiber is still not clear on the viscoelastic behavior under different temperature. In present paper, tensile properties of polyurethane fibers have been conducted under 40 ℃, 90 ℃ and 130 ℃ dry conditions, and nonlinear viscoelastic models have been made. Based on tensile theoretical analysis, the indexes to characterize stretching property have been selected to explain relations between temperature and viscoelastic behavior of PU fibers. In addition, DSC tests have further proved the results of several models. Comparisons of viscoelastic index of several different models have been conducted, which indicates that the nonlinear multi-element model is effective and accurate in characterizing tensile properties of Polyurethane fibers.
