Research on Quick-forming Ultra-low-density Porous Wood Fibrous Materials by Steam Injection
The ultra-low-density porous wood fibrous material formed by the quick-forming process of steam injection was investigated, and also the experimental equipments was also designed and manufactured. The chemical changes and microscopic structure in material by the injected steam treatments were determined by FT-IR and AFM technology respectively, and the compacting mechanism for forming mfiterial was discussed in the present study. The results showed that the ultra-low-density porous wood fibrous with density of 50-100kg/m<3> and thickness of 20mm- 200mm can be well formed by steam injection and the designed experimental equipments. FT-IR analysis indicated that aromatic groups in fibers were disappeared after steam treatments dues to the lignin softened or lignin degradation by steam with high temperature or pressure, and the main reaction mainly involves the solidification reaction between the foamed resin and active groups on surface of wood fibers, and foaming reactions between the foam resin and water molecules in steam. The detailed analysis by AFM technology showed that the microscopic structure in fiber-resin particle-fiber is approximately shaped by the form of cross connections, which presents with the special form of X by smaller in middle zone and larger on the two ends.
