Catalytic Polymerization of Dicyclopentadiene with W-catalyst Supported on Montmorillonite
A PDCPD/montmorillonite nanocomposite was prepared using a novel supported catalyst of W-phenolic on organomontmorillonite, in which W-phenolic was intercalated into organomontmorillonite. The organo- montmorillonite supported catalyst can swell in dicyclopentadiene to produce a very stable suspension solution; while the co-catalyst was introduced, the polymerization of dicyclopentadiene occurred immediately to form a polydicyclopentadiene/montmorillonite nanocomposite in situ. in which the layers of montmorillonite are exfoliated. The supported catalyst and PDCPD/montmorillonite nanocomposite were characterized by XRD and TEM. It was shown that the WCl<,x>-phenol complex can enter into the layers of montmorillonite, and the montmorillonite was exfoliated and dispersed in PDCPD metrics.
