Study on Low-temperature processing for PLA-b-PCL Multiblock Copolymers by Pressure-induced Flow
This paper introduces a novel and convenient processing for PLA-b-PCL mulitblock copolymers by pressure-induced flow at a low temperature. The designed molecular weight PLA-PCL-PLA triblocks copolymers were synthesized by ring opening polymerization of L-lactide, followed by the chain extension of these PLA-PCL-PLA triblocks, using hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). Then the multiblock copolymers were flowed and transformed to a transparent bar in a mould in pressure field at a temperature much lower than the melting point of the copolymers. The bars exhibit well mechanical properties especially the extendibility and present layered microstructure.
