Study on the Propagation Characteristics of Acoustic Emission Signal in PE/PE Self-Reinforced Composite laminates

In this paper, the attenuation characteristics of acoustic emission (AE) signals in PE/PE composite laminates were studied preliminarily. Results showed that the AE signal attenuated seriously with the increment of the propagation length, which provided sound evidence to the available range of AE sensors monitoring. The source location of AE signal was predicted using the technique of Gabor wavelet transform. Comparative studies were conducted between the theoretical predictions and experimental measurements and the results showed a satisfactory agreement between them.
