Modification of Protein Fiber by a Novel Crosslinking Agent FC101 to Improve Dyeability on Wool by Using Disperse Dyes

In the traditional way, acid dyes are used when dyeing protein fabrics and yarns. But in the recent years, because acid dyes contain some pollution structure which are harmful to the environment, in order to protect the environment, many researchers try to find other dyestuff for the dyeing of wool fabrics. In this paper, a novel multi-activeness crosslinking agent FC-101 is designed and synthesized. Then its was used for wool modification. The research results show that: FC-101 not only can have the nucleophilic substitution reaction with the polar groups of protein fiber, but also can form crosslinking between fiber and dyestuff because of its multi-activeness groups. In addition, pretreating wool by FC-101 can not only improve the physical and chemical properties of wool such as hydrophobic property of wool, affinity of disperse dye to wool fiber, but can also improve the dyeability of disperse dye for wool, such as K/S value, washing fastness. The research in this article develops one kind of new method for dyeing wool with disperse dyestuffs.
