Effects of Polypropylene Fiber on Anti-Cracking of Cement Mortars

The effects of volume fraction, length, cross-section shape and modification of polypropylene fiber (PP) on the anti-cracking properties of cement mortars are tested and discussed in this paper. The experimental results show that, PP fibers can obviously increase the anti-cracking properties of cement mortars in plastic stage, as well as hardening stage, that is, plastic-shrinkage cracks and dry-shrinkage cracks are both decreased With the admixture of PP fibers in cement mortars. And the factors discussed in this study are all have certain effects on the anti- cracking properties of cement mortars, for example, with the increase of volume fraction, length, specific area and surface roughness of PP fibers, the cement mortars will have better anti-cracking properties.
