Drop-weight impact response and energy absorption capacity of Glass-Polyester hybrid composite plates
In this paper, polyester fibers were mixed with glass fibers in different proportions and the 3D woven composites with honeycomb structure were manufactured, the impact energy absorbency of the composites was tested and analyzed, and the impact damage of the samples was observed. The result indicates that the composites mixed with polyester fibers have a significant hybrid effect. Comparing with samples made with pure glass fibers, the absorbed energy will be the highest when the content of the polyester fiber is about 55%. In this way, the best energy absorbency of the composite can be gained with the lowest cost.
