Investigation on Aromatic Amine-functionalized MWNTs/polyimide Nanocomposite Films Fabricated by in Situ Polymerization

In the preparation of a novel MWNTs/polyimide composite, the homogeneous dispersion of carbon nanotubes used as filler in the matrix polymer was expected. For this purpose, a new aromatic amine- functionalized MWNTs was synthesized by grafting ODA (4,4-Diaiminodiphenyl ether) onto the MWNTs surface and used for in situ polymerization to fabricate polyimide. Tensile strength and volume conductivity on the films showed an increase in the mechanical and electrical properties with the addition of aromatic amined-MWNTs. Experimental results suggested that the amine-functionalized carbon nanaotubes could demonstrate functions in MWNTs/polyimide films and supply potential applications in polyimide composites field.
