Studying on the Properties of PPTA/MWNTs Composite Fiber
PPTA (Poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide) fiber is a kind of polyamide fibers with excellent performance. MWNTs (multi-walled carbon nanotubes) is an ideal functional and enhancive material for composite materials. In this paper, authors try to explore the influence of MWNTs on PPTA fiber prepared with dry- jet wet spinning of MWNTs and PPTA polymer. Different proportions of MWNTs are added into spinning dope, the mechanical properties and the thermal stability of PPTA fiber are studied. The results of the experiment show that its useful to raise the degradation temperature and increase the thermal stability with the adding of MWNTs into PPTA fiber.
