Microwave Absorption Characteristics of Composites Containing Carbon Black and Carbon Fibers
Microwave absorption characteristics of the composite containing parallel-arranged carbon fibers and carbon black were investigated at the frequency range of 2- 18GHz in this study. The results show that, the absorption performance is corresponding to both the carbon black and the layer-number of parallel- arranged carbon fibers. The single-layer composite with carbon black mixture and 2-layer carbon fibers has the bandwidth at 9.64GHz under -5dB and 3.86GHz under-10dB at parallel polarization. The double-layer composite at vertical polarization combined by transmission layer containing 4-layer carbon fibers and absorbing layer mixed with carbon black, the frequency range under -5dB and -10dB are 6.82GHz and 3.18GHz, respectively. The composite with double- layer structure combined by transmission layer mixed with carbon black and absorbing layer containing 4- layer parallel-arranged carbon fibers has the maximum reflection loss with the value of-31.78dB. The absorption mechanism was discussed based on the theory of electromagnetic.
