Study on Thermal Properties of Phase Change Materials Alloy used in Building Materials
In this paper, three kinds of phase change materials (PCMs) alloy were prepared by the physical blend method. Every kind of PCMs alloy was a compound which consisted of two organic PCMs. The thermal properties of three PCMs alloys were determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The main melting temperature range and melting heat of the PCMs alloys during the heating process and the main freezing range and freezing heat of those during the cooling process were described. The experimental results showed that the alloy of 75/25 (wt%) butyl stearate/paraffin had good phase transition temperatures within the range of comfortable environmental temperature, high latent heat and did not react with concrete or mortar. Only the alloy of 75/25 (wt%) butyl stearate/paraffin was suitable for utilization in building materials to adjust the room temperature and save the energy.
