Preparation of Network-Covered Antistatic Fiber and Characterization of Its Properties
Organic network-covered acrylic fibers were prepared by a novel technique, by which the spun acrylic fibers were wrapped by polymerized antistatic agents that behave curing property through reactive groups. The properties and structures of the modified fibers were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and other methods. The results showed that the antistatic components were uniquely coated on the surface of the fibers. The specific resistivity of the antistatic fiber containing 0.5% antistatic composition was less than l0<8>Ω·cm. After standard washing, the change of the resistance of the fiber was less than one order. The dynamic frictional coefficient of the fiber was 0.21 ~0.22 and its static frictional coefficient was about 0.25~0.27. The properties were similar to those of natural cotton.
