Processing of Poly (trimethylene terephthalate) Filaments with Low Modulus and Low Shrinkage
Poly (trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) filaments made by ordinary spinning and drawing processing methods often manifest certain dimensional instability caused by the residual stress within the as-drawn fibers which limits the applications. In this article, PTT filaments with low modulus and low shrinkage were produced. Effects of post-spinning processing conditions on the mechanical properties of PTT filaments were investigated. Thermal treatments, as well as spinning and drawing conditions, give fundamental influences in the performance of the filaments. Finally, some optimized post treatment data were given.
