Physical and Chemical Changes of Cellulose Acetate Butyrate and a Novel Cationic Copolyester Blends in the Melt Spinning Process
Blends in the composition range 5~50wt% of cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) and aliphatic diol containing side group modified cationic copolyester (MCDP) were prepared by thermal compounding. The structure and properties of the polymer blends were studied. Analysis of the DSC curves showed that CAB/MCDP blends are immiscible and CAB decomposition reaction affected by different experimental conditions. On the other hand, FTIR spectra of different composition blends showed that the gas decomposed from CAB was butyric acid and MCDP promote CAB decomposed in blends. The measure of hydroscopicity of blend fibers further proved the reaction and improved MCDP fibers hygroscopic ability.
