Enzymatic Treatment of Crude Bamboo Fibers
Crude bamboo fibers, obtained by mild chemical pretreatment, were treated by xylanase in this paper. The properties of enzyme were studied and optimal parameters of enzymatic treatment were determined. The morphologies of treated fibers were observed by SEM and chemical component of precipitates scattered in reaction solution was analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy. As a result, the weight loss of crude bamboo fibers is 6.79% under optimal treating conditions and treated fibers become smooth and loose. These investigations show that enzymatic treatment is a promising method for bamboo degumming.
