Research on One-bath Alkali-H<,2>O<,2> Treatment for Natural Bamboo Fiber Degumming
In this paper, Moso-bamboo was treated by one-bath alkali-H<,2>O<,2> degumming in order to extract natural fibers for textile utilization. Chemical components from different layers of bamboo culm were tested and analyzed. Optimal parameters of degumming were obtained. As a result, the residual gum and lignin of fibers treated by one-bath alkali-H<,2>O <,2> degumming are 16.78% and 6.76%, respectively, which is lower than that of fibers treated by conventional alkali degumming. In addition, the morphologies of degummed fibers were observed by microscope and fiber crystallinity was measured by X- ray line. Investigations show that bamboo fiber extracted with one-bath alkali-H<,2>O<,2> degumming is superior to that extracted with conventional alkali degumhaing.
