The Stepwise Route to the Preparation of Layered Double Hydroxides and its Nanohybrid with Series Cinnamic Acid
Mg<,2>Al and Zn<,2>Al layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have been successfully synthesized by applying a stepwise control route, and UV absorber (cinnamic acid and p-methoxycinnamic acid) LDHs intercalation nanohybrids obtained by ion-exchange method. The textural and structure properties, thermal stability of the resulting LDHs and nanohybrids were characterized by XRD, TEM and TG-DTA. The results of characterization showed that LDHs obtained by stepwise control route were pure and highly crystalline. The intercalation nanohybrids did not destroy the layer structure of LDHs. The interlayer spaces of nanohybrids LDHs were extended from about 0.29nm to 1.35-1.75nm, respectively. Intercalation of UV absorber in the LDHs interlayer galleries resulted in an enhanced thermal stability of UV absorber, which showed that the nanohybrids of LDHs with functional units had potential application as a UV absorber in polymer.
