Thermo-responsive Core-shell Micelles from Self-assembly of Poly (tert-butyl acrylate)-bloek-poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) Synthesized via Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization
Poly (tert-butyl acrylate)-block-poty (N- isopropylacrylamide) (PtBA-b-PNIPAM) with different proportions of two monomers was prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using l- Chlorophenylethane (l-PECl) as initiator and cuCl / N, N, N, N, N-Pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) as catalyst in the mixture solvent of butanone and 2-propanol. The structure of PtBA-b- PNIPAM was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and <1>H NMR. The behavior of thermo-responsive block copolymers in solution was investigated by SEM and DLS. DLS measurements indicated that volume phase transition temperature (VPTT) of micelles was at 33℃ around. With increasing temperature, the particle size of micelles tended to decrease.
