Study on Process and Performance of PLA Meltblowns
Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new green material sith excellent properties. In nonwovens industry, it can be used to make spunbonds and meltblowns through direct melt spun technology. Now PLA spunbonds is a commercial product, but meltblowns is still in experiment study. Through a 25cm experimental meltblown line, PLA meltblowns was successfully made out in our laboratory. In this paper, it introduced the manufacture technology of PLA meltblowns. Through technology and characteristic analysis, it explained in detail about the relationship between the process parameters and its performancc. Through SEM photos, filtration dfficiency and breathability experiments, it discussed the technical parameters which influenced deeply on the performance of PLA meltblowns, such as the melt temperature, hot air temperature and pressure, width of the air gap, etc. The results showed that the process parameters were very important and mainly affected the structure of PLA meltblowns, thus its performance was different.
