Studies on the properties of SA/PTA/EG copolyester fiber

In this paper, a novel modified Co-PET was synthesized from succinic acid (SA), p-phthalic acid (PTA) and ethylene glyeol (EG), both SA and EG are coming from corn industry., and half of the materials are from reproducible biological resources. The spinnability, mechanical property and dyeing behavior of this Co-PET fiber were initially researched in this paper. The experiments suggested that this Co- PET fiber exhibit an outstanding dyeing behavior, whose dyeing temperature could be decreased to about 90℃ and rate of dyeing could reach above 90%. The friction fastness and washing resistance are both not lower than the fourth levels.
