Study on Non-isothermal Crystallization Kinetics of Poly (ethylene terephthalate) Containing Different Surface Characteristic SiO<,2>

Non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) containing three different surface characteristic SiO<,2> were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). From the cooling scanning curve, after the addition of SiO <,2> the crystallization peak became narrow and T <,mc> shifted largely to high temperature region. The second heating scanning curve indicated that the neat PET sample obviously exhibited T<,g>, T<,cc> and T <,m>, but the other three samples exhibited only T <,m>. The parameters of non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of PET were obtained through Jeziorny equation. The results indicated that all the three different surface characteristic SiO<,2> increased the crystallization rate constant at unit cooling rate Z<,c> and the values of the Avrami exponents (n) of PET/SiO<,2> blends decreased compared With that of neat PET.
