Growth of Magnesium Hydroxide Lamellar Nano-crystalis on Modified Cotton Fabric

Lamellar nano-crystals magnesium hydroxide Mg(OH) <,2> have been grown on citric acid modified cotton fabric by secondary crystallization at 35℃. Magnesium hydroxide was provided by a simple reaction of MgCl<,2> and NH<,3>·H<,2>O, without any organic additive or catalyst. The lamellar nano-crystals grown on cotton fabric have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer. The XRD studies revealed that magnesium hydroxide was lamellar. The SEM studies showed that the lamellar crystals were located like vertical fish scales. Through spectrophotometer, anti-UV and anti-JR properties were observed.
