Method of preparing vermiculite hydrosol with dispersants of different structures
Vermiculite hydrosol can be used to increase the properties of fibers such as fireproof and heat insulation. Stable vermiculite hydrosol was prepared by introducing dispersants by the first time in this paper. Native vermiculite was made into organic vermiculite through cation exchange with organic quaternary ammonium salts. Dispersants of different structures were added into organic vermiculite, and then milled into small particles for the preparation of vermiculite hydrosol. Nine kinds of dispersants were used in this research. Two satisfying hydrosols can be stable for 60 days plus by using surfactant dispersants. The properties of vermiculite hydrosols were studied using laser particle size analyzer, transmission electron microscope and Tyndall phenomenon analyzer. The results showed that 50％ of the particle size in the hydrosols cast the range from 0.5μm to 1.0μm.
