Enhancing mechanical performances by forming a nacre-like layered morphologies in PA6/MMT nanocomposite bulk materials
The effect of pressure-induced flow processing (PIF- processing) on the mechanical properties of PA6/Moritmorillonite (MMT) were studied. Results showed that much improved mechanical performances could be obtained for those samples after PIF- processing, depending on the temperature and pressure during processing. SEM observations revealed the formation of a nacre-like layered microstructure in the crystalline regions of polymer matrix after PIF- processing, which were believed to be responsible for the improved mechanical performances.
