Application of NCT-β-CD to Durable Press Finishing
Monochlorotriaziny1-β-cyclodextrin (MCT-β-CD) was synthesized and applied to cotton fabrics as durable press finishing agent. The dry crease recovery angles of the fabrics were increased by treatment with MCT-β-CD alone, but less efficient than that with modified dimethyloldihydroxyethyleneurea (F-ECO). In order to obtain high performance fabrics, a combination of MCT- β-CD with F-ECO was applied to durable press finishing for cotton fabrics. The influences of concentration of MCT-β-CD, curing temperature and time on dry crease recovery angles, breaking and tearing strength were studied. The fabrics treated with 2% MCT- β-CD and 10% F-ECO in a single bath gave satisfactory durable press performance with improved breaking and tearing strength. The interaction of MCT-β-CD on the cotton fabrics was studied by Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR).
