Carbon-poor stellar cores as supernova Progenitors
We find that carbon-oxygen cores in the mass range of about 1.05-1.25M??, which ignite carbon off-center, may present an interesting SN Ia progenitor scenario, which could contribute to understanding the diversity of SNe Ia, since due to the small amount of carbon ignited, we get a whole range of central densities between 1-6×10<9>gcm<-3>, thus we expect various outcomes in terms of the velocities and composition of the ejecta.
