Binary Black Hole Coalescence
Recent work at the interface between analytical and numerical relativity is deepening our understanding of the two-body dynamics and of the gravitational radiation from binary black-hole coalescences. In this talk we review the most recent advances, focusing on the transitions from inspiral to merger and to ringdown, and on the recoil velocity of the newly born black hole.
