Research on the Mechanized Conservation Tillage for Oasis Irrigation District in Xinjiang

This paper analyzes the characteristic of the oasis irrigation agriculture in the continents depths and on the edge of desert in an extremely dry condition, the problem of the traditional mechanized tillage methods and the serious results from it. It also discusses the necessity, feasibility and latent benefit of mechanized conservation tillage. The positive results have been obtained by introducing the successful experiences of dry farming from domestic and overseas areas, such as subsoiling, minimum-till and no-till sowing, straw-returning farmland, and combining the own research achievements of mechanized conservation tillage by experimentation in the oasis irrigation areas. This study also brings forward the further technical plans suitable for mechanized conservation tillage of oasis irrigation district: mechanized subsoiling, combined soil preparation and planting, minimum-till and no-till, mechanized soil-purification.
