1-1 Market Development Activity for Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Products in Japan
We the hot dip galvanizers, being confident that the hot dip galvanizing technology will contribute to the recycle-oriented society such as conservation of resources and energy required in the twenty-first century, have publicized the usefulness and promoted the use of the hot dip galvanizing technology to, the specifiers and manufacturers such as public offices, architectural design offices, and steel structure manufacturers. In the period between 2000 and 2006, we held technical lecture meetings including small seminars at 62 major locations throughout Japan, mainly prefectural capitals. So far, the number of participants has amounted to approximately 6,000 in total and is increasing year by year. The lectures were delivered on four themes: General galvanizing (outline of technology and application examples), Galvanizing of steel structures (precautions in design and manufacturing), Galvanized high-tension bolt fastening, and Market development activity for hot dip galvanized steel products in Japan. We also produced DVDs that visually present basic technologies, application examples, and operation procedures at galvanizing plants in an easy-to-understand manner and are enjoying high popularity among participants. We are also attempting to provide owners and designing engineers with abundant technical information related to galvanized steel products in a form that facilitates its use.
