The Energy Using Product (EuP) Directive Preparatory Studies-Applying the MEEUP Methodology to Motors, Fans, Pumps and Circulators
One of the Preparatory studies for the European Union Energy Using Product Directive is Lot 11, which concerns (ⅰ) electric motors 0.75-200kW, (ⅱ) water pumps (in commercial buildings, drinking water pumping, food industry, agriculture), (ⅲ) circulators in buildings and on (ⅳ) fans for ventilation in non-residential buildings. Understanding how to apply the MEEUP (Methodology Study for Eco-design of Energy Using Products) methodology (ref. 3) to these products is proving to be fundamental, to the successful outcome of the study, and so this paper concentrates on a detailed discussion of these issues, which will be of interest to anybody undertaking energy related studies in this area.
