The Energy Saving Challenge of Motor Using Equipment in Japan
The implementation of policies to stimulate energy saving in Japan started in earnest when the Law on Rational Use of Energy (hereafter called the Energy Conservation Law) was established in 1979, following the oil crisis of 1973. Household electrical appliances were the first domain to be addressed and the second was industrial equipment, which started in earnest after the Kyoto Protocol was initiated at COP3 (the 3rd session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) held in 1997.
