Alliance to Transform Electric Motor Market in Poland; Polish Energy Efficient Motor Programme (PEMP), Energy Efficient Electric Motor Systems in New Member and Candidate Countries (4EM-MCP) and Poland Japan Energy Conservation Technology Center (ECTC)
The Polish Energy Efficient Motor Programme (PEMP) aims to overcome existing barriers to increase the market share of electric energy efficient motors and efficiency improvements in electric motor systems. Under this programme four components are implemented: (i) capacity building by providing information and services related to energy efficient electric motors; (ii) implementation of demonstration projects for efficient motor systems; (iii) market transformation, using a financial incentive mechanism; and (iv) development of industrial energy efficiency policy, particularly in the field of efficient motor systems. Now after over two years of implementing the project, several actions have been undertaken to meet the project goals, however some unpredicted barriers occurred and resulted in slowing down market response. To overcome those barriers the PEMP team undertook several activities to develop new projects or to join and enrich the ongoing ones. The PEMP focused also on standardization and development of voluntary and mandatory energy efficiency standards. Scope of works and links with national energy efficiency policy of projects like: Poland Japan Energy Conservation Technology Center-ECTC (a joint project between Polish and Japanese Government which contributes to promotion of the energy conservation technology in Polish industry) and Energy Efficient Electric Motor Systems in New Member and Candidate Countries (4EM-MCP) which focuses on disseminating, extending and applying tools developed in the framework of the Motor Challenge Programme in New Member and Candidate Countries of European Union are presented. Also Voluntary Standard for Energy Efficient Electric Motor and other standardization activities are described in the paper.
