The Influence of Different Materials on the Performance of Induction Motors
An overview of improving induction motor efficiency as a factor in energy saving in the worldwide is given. At present, the motor efficiency is to a great extend up to stator and rotor materials in designing a high-efficiency induction motor, and the study of core materials which is responsible for stator losses and rotor constructions for rotor losses is helpful to choose suitable materials in decreasing motor losses. In this paper, several representative core materials manufactured by different manufacturers and four rotor constructions are introduced. Through analyzing and comparing their properties, we would know how the materials affect motor performances, which helps designing a high efficiency motor by selecting an optimal rotor and core material though it is impossible to get the best core and rotor materials.
