On Site Optimization of Fluid Processes
The reduction of electric energy consumptions is a preoccupation answered more and more in industry. In fact, until now, only large industrial groups are more advanced compared to these concerns, not only they have economic means necessary to solve these problems but they collect the benefit in term of image. Small companies, which represent a significant part in the processing industry and represent a considerable share of power consumption were not sensitized with these problems. CETIM, French Technical Centre for Mechanical Engineering, which has always been implied in actions that lead to an improvement of energetic efficiencies in the field of fluid processes, decided, in collaboration with the ADEME, the Region Pays de la Loire and the French State to propose actions to improve the efficiency of the pumping plants in the small and average industrial companies of the region. Considering the energy expenditure of the pumps represents a significant part of the total energy costs of the companies. The diagnosis must allow, starting from an analysis of the data available on site, to draw up a first evaluation of the possible sources of economy. This will allow in one second phase, a complete diagnosis concerted with the company on the optimization of the pumping plants and processes. A first evaluation of the results is illustrated by two examples of diagnosis.
