Tool for Choosing Pumps in Central Heating Systems
The working conditions of a pump plant in a central heating system in a block of flats changes during the heating season (flow and heat demand). Conditions affecting the necessary heat amount and the flow have changed during the last 25 years in Denmark: Reduced flow temperatures, reduced heat losses, better decentralized control via thermostatic valves, change in composition of residents, individual settling etc. The manufactures of pumps all have excellent tools to choose pumps but to benefit from these the input to the tools has to be based on the definite installation. E.g. its necessary to know how the flow varies during the heating season. As this input rarely is available the background for choosing the new pump is the capacity of the previous pump concerning flow and differential head.
