Sectional Anatomy of Segmental and Subsegmental Bronchovasculature of the Lungs

Objective: To investigate the division and distribution of pulmonary segments on the coronal sections. Methods: Using serial coronal sections of thorax of 20 adult cadavers, multislice spiral CT images of 4 healthy volunteers, the identify of pulmonary bronchi and vascular and the division and distribution were investigated on the coronal section. Results: The lung were mainly turned up on 17 sections. The section through the bifurcation of trachea is the best beginning section to observe the pulmonary bronchi and vascular and the division of pulmonary segments on the coronal section. On the section through sternal angle and before there is s_3 distribution;There are s_(1+2) and s_3 on the left superior lobes and s_1. s_3 on the right superior lobe on the section through the right auricle. There are s_(1+2～) s_5 on the left lung and s_1. s_3 ～s_5 and s_7 on the right lung on the section through the right atrioventricular orifice.There are s_(1-2～)S_5 on the left superior lobe , s_(7+8) on the left inferior lobe and S_1、 s_3～S_5、 S_7 and S_8 on the right lung on the 4 sections from superior vena cava to the bifurcation of trachea . There are S_(1+2)、 S_4、 S_6～ S_(10) on the left lung and S_1、 S_2、S_、S_6～S_(10) on the right lung on the section through intermediate brouchus. There are S_(1+2)、 S_4、 S_6、 S_9 and S_(10) on the left lung and S_1, S_2, S_4 S_6, S_9 and S_(10) on the right lung on the section through thoracic aorta. There are S_(1+2) on the left superior lobe, S_2 on the right superior lobe and S_6、 S_9 and S_(10) on both inferior lobes of two lungs. The pulmonary segmentai veins were also studied on the coronal sections and CT images and the method of distribution of pulmonary segments on the coronal sections. Conclusions: The pulmonary segments can be divided exactly on the coronal section by recognizing the lobar and segmentai bronchi, arteries, and veins of the lungs carefully.
