Biomechanical Model of Cornea Deformation
Cornea surgeons have observed that the placement of surgical incisions has been shown to influence the cornea curvature change. This work implemented a finite element model and a mass-spring model of the cornea to investigate factors influencing corneal shape. Firstly, an individual 3D modal model of cornea was constructed. Cornea shape change was computed respectively with finite element model and mass-spring model, Finally, the intra- ocular pressure and external pressure were simulated. The results sugest that this FEA model has potential usefulness as a simulation tool for cornea and it can provide accurate information. Mass-spring model is suitable for real-time simulation and quantitative deformation of cornea.
