The Design and Study of the Software for Localization of Cerebral Medullar Processes and Gyri by Simulated Clock Plate on Sectional Image

Purpose: In order to provide a new method and tool for localization and describing of cerebral medullar processes and gyri. Method: According to the computer program, computer data saving and vision, computer graphics and image processing, the software for localization of cerebral medullar processes and gyri by simulated clock plate on sectional image was designed. The standard clock dial plate graphic was created with Photoshop CS 8.0 made by Adobe. And the software named Digital Picture Viewer (DPV) was designed in basic script language with the software Multimedia Builder (MB) Version 4. 9. 7 created by MediaChance Co. from Canada. In DVP the author design the Opening button to open a single digital picture and browsing button to search a batch of pictures. Then the clock plate was infixed into the DVP program. With technique of the computer program and computer graphics and image processing, the clock plate graphic is always on top in the viewer in 0.5 opacity, and its background is alpha transparent. By scripting the codes of functional button, the clock plate graphic can be moved, zoomed in and out in the screen. The software as the tool for localization of cerebral medullar processes and gyri, was applied in identification of gyri on CT or MRI, comparing the images of the sectional cerebral slice, on which the location of gyri is known. Results: We get perfect and useful tool software for localization of cerebral medullar processes and gyri by simulated clock plate on sectional images. It was a windows program vision size 800×600, and can run in any version of Microsoft windows system. In the DPV, the pictures that user toke will be put on the background, the clock plate is always above the picture in the screen. The shading problem was solved by alpha transparent processing. The problem of controlling the location and size of clock was solved by the technique of real time computation and vision. The clock can be moved and adjusted size interactively. So the user can observe and identify the location of medullar processes and gyri with the clock plate, as reference. It was well done to apply the simulated clock plate in describing the location and type of medullar processes and gyri on any sectional cerebral images. Conclusions: Through our studying, the location of gyrus according to the pattern of medullary branches on any standard sectional plane can be described simply and accurately. It supplies a very practical and standard reference tool in the cerebral image medical science, especially the probability of the location of medullar processes. And it would be a promotion to utilize this method widely in the clinical image diagnosis.
