Three-Dimensional Reconstruction of Iung and Intrapulmonary Vessels from Chinese Visible Human

Purpose To evaluate anatomical characterices of pulmonary arterial system, pulmonary venous system and tracheobronchial system of Chinese people through threedimensional (3D) reconstruction. Materials and methods 241 two-dimensional (2D) images from Chinese visible human data set (No. 460 to No. 701) were obtained. The data set we chosen was 8.172GB with each sectioned image file of 36MB by using the digital photograph resolution of 6291456 (3072×2048) picture elements. After manual registration, the 2D images wrer segmented by Photoshopcs software. Then 241 anatomical images containing ROI (region of interest) were processed by the 3DMed software to build interactive 3D digital models. Results Four anatomical structures were reconstructed, including lung, pulmonary arterial system, pulmonary venous system and tracheobronchial system. They could be represented individually or jointly, rotated in any plane and zoom in or zoom out. The reconstructed 3D models could show the anatomical informations of intrapulmonary vessels including position, diamater and mutual relation clearly. Conclusion The reconstructed 3D models of intrapulmonary vessels could clearly show their anatomical characterices. In addition, as a new tool, it could be applyed to clinical diagnosis and anatomical teaching.
