Regarding wind energy, Spain is in a leadership position in the global market. In 2006, Spain reached 11, 730 MW installed capacity, as a result, Spains installed capacity currently ranks second country in the world, only behind Germany. This important growth of the market has been accompanied by the corresponding industrial development carried out by private Spanish companies in such a way that the wind industry represents a strong sector highly competitive in the international markets. The success has been possible thanks to various factors, among which the support policies of the government have played a fundamental role.
