On the New Observation Method for Optimal Site of Offshore Wind Farm
The offshore wind powers have been constructed actively in Europe. This study aims to establish a measurement method of wind characteristics using a small ship for decision of optimal site for offshore wind firm. It is composed of an ultrasonic anemometer, a GPS, an inertial measurement unit, and a digital compass. The system was installed to a small ship and wind characteristics at 10m height above the sea level were measured by an ultrasonic anemometer. Raw data of the wind velocity includes the error caused by the rolling and pitching of the ship. In this study, the raw data of wind velocity was corrected by the data of the measurement unit in the system. However, it is needed in near future to replace the anemometer by Mini-Doppler Soda (MDS) to detect wind speed until 200m height. In this paper, it also is described the certification for MDS.
