The Aerodynamic Performance Study of a Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine
The aerodynamic performance of HAWT (Horizontal axis Wind Turbine) is investigated by the strip theory and cascade theory which are combined of momentum and blade element theory. The wind shear, yawing are taken into account to make the computational model more accurate, more close to the actual operation of wind turbine. And the results are compared with the data that come from the blade design software GH Bladed. It is shown that the calculation results of the cascade theory are in better agreement with that obtained by the GH Bladed than that of the strip theory.
