Characteristic Analysis and Evaluation of Materials of Wind Turbine Blades
Wind energy is considered as the most vigorous energy of all renewable energy. Wind power generation is the major method of wind energy application. The blade which captures wind energy is a key component of wind turbine. Efficiency of wind energy utilization depends on the aerodynamic shape and materials of blade with high strength, high stiffness, low density and long-fatigue life. In this paper, the principles and requirements of blade material selection are introduced, then some candidate materials properties are compared and analyzed. The result shows that the developing trend of material of wind turbine blade is maximization and lightweight, and WindStrand<TM> reinforcement is a kind of better material than other composites currently.
