Modeling and Optimization for Segmented Transmission-Line Electroabsorption Modulators with Asymmetrical Electrodes

Normalized RF link gain is derived for a segmented transmission-line electroabsorption modulator. Genetic algorithm is used to optimize the electrode structures which are asymmetrical and non-periodic. Performance of the optimized EAM design is analyzed.
